Everything you need to know.

What is GABA?

GABA (or gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a compound found in nearly all life on earth. Whilst GABA has many roles in the human body, in the brain it functions as a neurotransmitter. GABA modulates brain and central nervous system activity, causing feelings of relaxation and calmness, opening the door to a sense of ease in social situations and all the positive benefits these moments can bring.

What are GABA Spirits?

GABA Spirits are designed to increase the effectiveness of the calming effects GABA provides. SENTIA does not raise your GABA levels, nor does it contain GABA itself as an active ingredient. We do not use GABA as an active ingredient because ingested GABA cannot pass from your bloodstream through what is known as the blood brain barrier (BBB), and then on into your brain. Instead, SENTIA contains active ingredients that can pass the BBB and modulate the effectiveness of the GABA naturally produced by your brain.

What is the GABA Blend?

he SENTIA Spirits GABA blend is the result of extensive bioprospecting, investigative, and pharmacological research. Selected ingredients are combined, proportioned, and extracted for optimal absorption, bioavailability (the proportion of a substance entering the bloodstream when entering the body) and efficacy.

Is there GABA in Sentia Spirits?

Whilst there is GABA in SENTIA Spirits (because GABA is found in all plants), GABA is not an active ingredient, because orally ingested GABA is not known to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB). Instead, the SENTIA Spirits GABA blend enhances the effectiveness of the GABA naturally produced in the brain.

How does SENTIA work?

SENTIA Spirits contain an all-natural GABA blend that has two major components. GABA enhancers (which increase the effectiveness of your brain’s natural GABA) and bio-enhancers (which help absorption of GABA enhancers from your gut, into your bloodstream, and then across the blood brain barrier).

How is SENTIA made?

SENTIA is made through a unique, proprietary series of production methods that preserve the plants’ functional compounds and nutrients, giving you more of what the plants have to offer.

Can I drink SENTIA if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

We do not recommend drinking SENTIA during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding, as it contains some botanical ingredients (albeit in very small amounts) that are contraindicated for pregnancy.

Can I drive after drinking SENTIA?

GABA Red is made with relaxing ingredients and we recommend you do not drive 45 minutes after consuming Red, until the effect has worn off. Our Gold and Black variants are made with more energising botanicals and do not require the same wait - time.

Will SENTIA make me feel drunk?

SENTIA is not intended to make you feel drunk. When we drink 2 units of alcohol (medium glass of 12% wine) GABA is enhanced and causes feelings of relaxation. Alcohol acts on many other systems such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. This is what gets you “drunk.”

How long does the effect of SENTIA last for?

From tests, it seems people tend to feel some effects within 5-10 minutes, which can last 45-60 minutes.

Is SENTIA addictive?

All ingredients in SENTIA are classified as “food safe” by the Food Standards Agency and are not considered addictive.

SENTIA & Medication

We cannot guarantee that the current combinations of plants in SENTIA will be free of interactions with medicines or pre-existent conditions. If you are taking medication, then please use with caution or consult with your GP.

SENTIA & Alcohol

Regular alcohol consumption may moderate the SENTIA experience. To get the best out of our functional spirits, we recommend abstaining from alcohol for 2 to 3 weeks.

Professor David Nutt has been a pioneering force in psychopharmacology for over thirty years.

Professor Nutt has developed a range of drinks that exclusively target the brain’s GABA, the system we associate with the desirable effects of alcohol.

GABA is an important neurotransmitter that calms the brain and nervous system, allowing us to feel more at ease.
